What Do I Do If I Missed a Week or More of My Fitness Progam?

I get asked, often, where one should pick back up with a program when one has fallen off the wagon (either short term or long term).  Let me start first by saying this… don’t beat yourself up if this is you.  Whether you missed a few days, weeks, or months you needn’t get mad at yourself over it.  Life happens.  We all have life happen, and it’s understandable.  The important thing is that you are ready to hop back on the wagon again.  Each time we step back, we can take two steps forward again by committing to our routine.  You can do this!

I MISSED A FEW DAYS

If you’ve only missed a few days, then pick right back up where you left off with your program.  Perhaps you were on day 10… then start up with that day 11 as your calendar shows you.

I MISSED A WEEK

If you missed a week it’s ok to still start right back up where you left off.  If you are worried about it being too hard to jump right back in, however, you can choose one of the shorter workouts from your program and do that for a day first before hopping back into the full schedule.

I MISSED A FEW WEEKS

If you missed a few weeks you have a couple of options… option #1 would be to start the program at the beginning again.  Option #2 would be to go back and repeat the last week you did of your program before moving onto the next week.

I MISSED A MONTH OR MORE

At this point, go back to the beginning, because your cardiovascular system and muscles will really need that progression to get you back to where you left off.

 

No matter which of these are you, you CAN get back to where you were with the program, and you can go beyond to make great changes for your physical health.  You’ve got this!
